Song Joong Ki's sci-fi thriller film 'Space Sweepers' to be released on Netflix

Song Joong Ki's sci-fi thriller film "Space Sweepers" will soon land on Netflix.

In an announcement on Friday, Netflix confirmed that it has acquired the exclusive global release of the much-anticipated Korean film.

Song Joong Ki, known for his lead role in the "Descendants of the Sun," will portray the role of  a genius space pilot living in the year 2092 when Earth has become a bleak planet. With his team, he discovers a humanlike robot named Dorothy.

Directed by Jo Sung Hee and produced by Bidangil Pictures, the film also features actors Kim Tae Ri, Jin Sun Kyu and Yoo Hai Jin.

Netflix has yet to announce the release date of "Space Sweepers."
