Janina Vela, Lianne Valentin, Jesse and Christian Perkins to star in coming-of-age show ‘Kaibigan: The Series’

Kapuso actress Lianne Valentin, vlogger Janina Vela, and twins Jesse and Christian Perkins are set to star in their own coming-of-age show “Kaibigan: The Series.”

During a press conference on Thursday, the cast members said the new series follows four friends as they go through life amid the pandemic, facing both achievements and personal struggles.

As an actress who also starred in youth-oriented show “Tropang Pochi” when she was 9 years old, Lianne said: “Alam ko rin paano ’yung mga story ng youth-oriented shows and talagang family-friendly, makakatulong sa kabataan. Isa sa pinaka maganda sa ‘Kaibigan: The Series,’ it’s based sa reality, sa talagang nangyayari.”

She added, “when I read the script, lahat talaga ang ganda lang ng gusto niyang ipakita. ’Yung napagdadaanan ng character, napagdadanan ng ibang kabataan, baka may nakakaranas ng ganoong sitwasyon ... Isa ’yun sa talagang nagpapa-angat at nagli-lighten up dito sa ‘Kaibigan: The Series.’”

In partnership with the Department of Education, the series will also become an official material in the department’s values education curriculum.
