Rumored appearance of Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield on ‘Spider-Man 3’ has Twitter talking

Twitter has gone into a frenzy as the upcoming “Spider-Man” movie starring Tom Holland has been rumored to also feature cast members from the earlier films.

“Spider-Man 3” climbed the top trending topics in the Philippines on Wednesday as fans reacted to reports claiming Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire—who both played the masked web-slinger on separate franchises—might appear in the next movie.

An article by Collider surmised that “the third Spider-Man movie starring Tom Holland will delve into the multi-verse, just like its animated counterpart ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.’”

The same report mentioned that Kirsten Dunst, who played MJ on Sam Raimi’s original “Spider-Man” movie trilogy, and Emma Stone, who played Gwen Stacey opposite Garfield on “The Amazing Spider-Man,” may also return.

Collider also teased the supposed return of two actors who played villains: Jamie Foxx, who played Electro on “The Amazing Spider-Man 2,” and Alfred Molina, who played Doctor Octopus on Raimi’s second “Spider-Man” film.

Sony Pictures or Marvel Studios is yet to make an official public announcement regarding the return of the previous films’ other cast members as of Wednesday.

As far as we know, ET Canada has shared a statement from Sony Pictures that debunked earlier reports claiming Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield were confirmed to return as Peter Parker in Tom Holland’s “Spider-Man 3.”

Whether or not the rumors are true, the latest talk about “Spider-Man 3” just got tons of fans even more excited for the movie to come out.

We already know that Tom Holland has slipped back into his Spider-Man super suit this year.

He even posted a cheeky behind-the-scenes photo on Instagram last month.
