K-pop group Gugudan officially disbands —report

After two years of inactivity, the South Korean girl group Gugudan have officially disbanded.

According to a Soompi report on Wednesday, Jellyfish Entertainment announced on the group's official fan site that Gugudan will officially "end their group activities on December 31."

The entertainment company thanked the fans for their love and support since Gugudan made their debut in 2016.

"Although their group activities are over, we will do our best to provide full support for their individual activities such as music and acting," Jellyfish Entertainment said.

The company also apologized to the K-pop group's fans for the "sudden news."

"Please continue to show warm love and interest to the members who are about to make a fresh start," it said.

Originally a nine-member group, Gugudan was known for their songs "A Girl Like Me" and "Not That Type."

Their last comeback was in November 2018 with the release of their album "Act 5. New Action."
