Filipino band Mayonnaise makes headlines in SKorea over song for Blackpink’s Rosé titled ‘Park Chaeyoung’

Filipino band Mayonnaise made headlines in South Korea with the release of their song “Park Chaeyoung,” which they wrote for Blackpink member Rosé.

As seen on the band’s Facebook post on Thursday, their song was featured on Seoul Broadcasting System (SBS)’s show “Morning Wide.”

“Park Chaeyoung feature in SBS Morning News #MayonnaiseFirstWin,” said their post.

Apart from the news feature, Rosé herself reportedly listened to the song named after her.

On Monday, the band shared an audio clip from what appeared to be a voice chat from a livestream where Rosé said that she had heard of the song.

“The Park Chaeyoung song, I did see that. I think it was on the news or something. I was so surprised,” the Blackpink member said.

Meanwhile, the band captioned the clip, “Salamat sa musika, kung saan saan tayo nakakarating #ParkChaeYoung #MayonnaiseWinsForever.”

The song, called “Park Chaeyoung” in Hangul, was written by Mayonnaise frontman and Blackpink fan Monty Macalino, and is part of Mayonnaise’s eighth studio album “Friends & Family.”

The band, who sang the song with Chino David and Julia Daniel, also featured Rosé’s voice in the intro, although the song itself is in Filipino. – Kaela Malig/RC, GMA News
