Here’s how you can join NASA’s Mars Perseverance rover landing this February

Had enough of earth? Here’s how you can join National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s Mars rover landing next month—albeit virtually.

The Mars Perseverance rover will touch down on Feb. 18 and you can take part in it through the following:

Watch the landing online

Get all the information you need straight from the experts in a series of live broadcasts online. The landing show will premiere Feb. 18 through NASA’s YouTube channel.

They have also provided more information including the schedule of the shows on their website.

Discuss with NASA experts, enthusiasts

Ask questions and get the answers straight from the NASA experts when you join the event through Facebook. You will also be able to connect virtually with like-minded space enthusiasts and get a chance to receive a NASA social badge to share online or print at home.

For students: Join the ‘Mission to Mars’ Challenge

Take part in a worldwide “teachable moment” by registering to NASA’s ‘Mission to Mars’ Challenge.

Participants have the chance to design and build their own mission to Mars with a guided education plan and resources from the agency. They will have the opportunity to model different components of a Mars mission while engaging with NASA scientists and engineers along the way.

NASA has also provided posters, fact sheets, mission patches, stickers, and more that anyone can print and post on their walls on their website.

Send your name on the next mission to Mars by simply signing up and downloading your boarding passes after filling it out—as simple as that!

See landing simulation and explore site

Their 3D interactive simulation is also accessible to anyone. It lets you see each step of the landing from every angle. Not just that—you can also explore Jezero Crate, the place where the Perseverance rover will land.

The Perseverance rover made its way to Mars on July 30, 2020, to search for signs of ancient microbial life, which will advance NASA’s quest to explore the past habitability of Mars.
