Philippines among top 5 countries tweeting about K-Pop

It’s no doubt that among the many forms of entertainment, K-Pop has made its mark as one of the most talked about, especially among Filipinos.

According to a report released by Twitter on Thursday, the Philippines is among the top five countries tweeting about the subject.

The Philippines is top 4 in markets tweeting about K-Pop ranked by tweet volume and top 5 by number of unique voices in 2020.

Southeast Asian countries are among the countries that talked about K-Pop on the platform the most, with Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines, and Malaysia ranking on the top 10.

“Looking at the top 20 markets by unique voices reveals a diverse range of markets, highlighting the increasingly global nature of the K-Pop community,” said the report.

The report said #KpopTwitter hit a whopping 6.7 billion tweets all over the world in 2020, with BTS, NCT, EXO, Blackpink, and GOT7 as the top five mentioned artists.

Six of the most mentioned K-Pop songs were from BTS, including the Grammy nominated hit “Dynamite” and “On.”
