'Train to Busan' US remake in the works -report

A "Train to Busan" remake is reportedly in the works.

According to Deadline, American production company New Line is in negotiations with Indonesian film director Timo Tjahjanto to helm the film.

Coin Operated’s Gary Dauberman will be adapting the screenplay, the report added.

Atomic Monster’s James Wan and Michael Clear and Gaumont’s Nicolas Atlan and Terry Kalagian will produce.

South Korea's "Train to Busan," directed by Yeon Sang-ho, follows Seok-woo and his daughter as their journey turns into a nightmare when a zombie outbreak takes over the country.

Released in 2016, it won several awards including Best Foreign-Language Film in the Fangoria Chainsaw Awards, and Audience Choice Award for Most Popular Film in the Blue Dragon Film Awards.

It spawned a sequel titled "Peninsula," which picks up four years after the events of the first film. —JCB, GMA News
