DC Comics will soon have Spotify podcasts, and it'll begin with Batman

Apart from Barack Obama and Bruce Springsteen's podcast, Spotify announced at its Stream On event Tuesday the multiyear agreement its penned with Warner Bros. and DC to produce a number of podcasts exploring the superheroes and supervillains of the DC Universe.

"Batman Unburied" is first of many and it will be executive produced by David S. Goyer (The Dark Knight Rises).

At the virtual event, attended by Spotify executives and led by founder Daniel Ek, DC's chief creative officer Jim Lee and Goyer discussed "Batman Unburied."

"We're going to do a deep-dive into Batman's unconscious mind, into his dream state," Goyer said, adding how they were leaning into the surround sound capability of Spotify, which also just announced upgrading its sound quality to HiFi.

"The types of stories you can tell with that character [Batman] are pretty broad," Jim Lee added.

Pursuing narrative storytelling on audio, they said, will definitely allow them to explore what Lee calls "the suspense thriller side to Batman," doing something different from movies or graphic novels.

Apart from Batman, Superman, Lois Lane, Wonder Woman, Joker, Catwoman, Katana, The Riddler, Batgirl, and Harley Quinn are the other characters they're keen in exploring in what would be a new platform for the DC Universe.
