The cast also includes Don Cheadle (“Avengers”), Sonequa Martin-Green (“The Walking Dead) and Cedric Doe, who’s playing James’ son Dom who dreams of being a video game developer.

According to EW, “Space Jam: A New Legacy” will be released in theaters and on HBO Max this July 16.

The sequel comes more than two decades after “Space Jam” (1996) starring Michael Jordan was released.

The sports comedy film tells a fictionalized story of how the Looney Tunes helped the basketball legend make an electrifying comeback after retiring from the NBA in 1993. —Margaret Claire Layug/JCB, GMA News
