"The Queen's Gambit" is reportedly getting a musical!

According to Variety

, production company Level Forward has acquired theatrical stage rights for Walter Tevis’ novel “The Queen’s Gambit,” which was the basis for the award-winning miniseries starring Anya Taylor-Joy.

“The Queen’s Gambit,” which premiered on Netflix last October, is a seven-episode series about an orphaned female chess prodigy who strives to become the best in the world while battling loss, alcoholism and drug addiction.

The show reigned supreme at the Golden Globes last month, winning Best Television Limited Series and Anthology Series, or Motion Picture Made for Television.

Anya Taylor-Joy, who played the lead character Beth Harmon, also won the award for Best Actress in a Limited Series. —Margaret Claire Layug/JCB, GMA News
