Gloria Diaz says Rabiya Mateo is deserving of Miss Universe crown

Actress Gloria Diaz has said that Rabiya Mateo is deserving of the Miss Universe crown.

In an online interview with the press, Thursday, the Miss Universe 1969 titleholder said she was happy to see the Philippines thriving in the pageant after her win.

She added that she saw the Philippine candidate Rabiya as someone ideal to take home the country’s fifth crown.

“She is really deserving. She is pretty and she seems to be a very nice girl,” she said in a mix of English and Filipino

Her co-star on “Mommy Issues,” Pokwang, agreed. “Maiuuwi niya ‘yan (She will bring it home). Period,” she said.

On Thursday, Rabiya topped the partial tally of a local online poll for Miss Universe on the Lazada shopping app.

Rabiya is currently in the United States preparing for the grand coronation of the Miss Universe 2020 pageant on May 16 (May 17 Philippine time).

It will be held at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida
