At a time when information is available everywhere, Kuya Kim says not being updated is a problem.

Set to headline the upcoming news magazine show “Dapat Alam Mo” with Emil Sumangil and Patricia Tumulak, Kuya Kim was asked in an online interview how he stayed on top of trends and issues.

“If you’re not updated nowadays, may problema ka (you have a problem),” he said.

According to him, being clueless about the news just shows that a person is lazy.

“If you’re not updated nowadays, tamad ka na lang talaga (you’re just lazy),” he told the press.

“There are many sources of information,” he added. “Even if you’re busy, you can still be updated. Look at social media, websites.”

Kuya Kim said taking the time to read the news was a “habit” and “only takes a few minutes.” Patricia agreed, saying that it’s all about time management.

His co-host Emil, meanwhile, said he “required” himself to monitor the news every day.

According to the GMA News reporter, he wakes up at 3 a.m. daily and immediately listens to the morning radio. Throughout the day, he checks the news in between activities until his bedtime.

“Every day, punong-puno ng balita (every day is full of news),” he said.

“Dapat Alam Mo” is an upcoming news magazine show that will cover anything under the sun.

Emil will tackle news and issues in the country and around the world and Patricia will take on lifestyle and entertainment features.

Kuya Kim, meanwhile, is in-charge of sharing trivia and other topics that will tap human interest. He is the Philippines’ walking encyclopedia, after all.

“Dapat Alam Mo” will premiere on GTV Oct. 18. – RC, GMA News
