How ‘probinsyana’ is ‘I Left My Heart in Sorsogon’ star Heart Evangelista?

She may have been featured on Vogue, turned heads at Paris Fashion Week, and rubbed elbows with the likes of Kevin Kwan and Jessica Jung, but Heart Evangelista is one proud "probinsyana."

The Kapuso actress and style icon will star in GMA's upcoming teleserye "I Left My Heart in Sorsogon," which will showcase the beautiful province in the Bicol Region.

Heart is making her big TV comeback as Celeste Estrellado, a beautiful and headstrong city-based designer who somehow finds her way back to Sorsogon and gets caught in a complicated love triangle with two men: Mikoy (Paolo Contis) and Tonito (Richard Yap).

In a virtual press conference, Heart said preparing for her role was "sort of easy" because she could relate to Celeste on several aspects and not just her fashion.

"Because she's so fashionable, she's always dressed up. In a way, she uses her clothes as an armor because we don't know the turmoil that's happening inside her," she said.

"It's the same with Celeste but, in the end, honestly, when I was analyzing all of it, sabi ko, ayoko nang isipin kung magugustuhan nila si Celeste o hindi, kasi pag pinapanood nila 'yung story, maiintindihan din nila," she added.

Despite her fancy clothes and glamorous lifestyle, Heart said she's more probinsyana IRL than some people may think.

"Honestly, I'm very ... how do you say, koboy? Like, kahit saan mo ko dalhin, okay ako," said Heart.

"Mahirap intindihain 'yun [para] sa ibang tao kasi mahilig akong mag-high heels or mahilig akong mag—ano, maarte kasi ako, but kahit saan mo ko dalhin, masaya ako, so I can live wherever as long as I have my dog with me, actually, masaya ako," she added.

"Kahit sa probinsya, masaya ako, kahit sa city life, Masaya ako, kahit sa Paris, masaya ako. So 'yun, I'm a very laidback person."

At the same time, Heart said she felt "at home" in Sorsogon despite being locked in a bubble for three weeks.

"I really like the provincial life," she added. "I felt at home, and I felt safe."
