A new Korean zombie series titled "All of Us Are Dead" is coming to Netflix this month.

In a virtual press conference on Wednesday, director Lee Jae Kyoo talked about what set the series apart from other hit zombie shows.

"Yes, there is a lot of zombie content and in most stories we look at what happens to adults when they [encounter] a zombie virus," he said.

"But this is a little bit unique, first it happened in a very confined space that is a school and it happens to students that are not yet mature adults," he added.

"We often say things like some adults are 'childish' but I wanted to look at what kind of choices [they will make] and I felt like it would be extremely interesting and intriguing to look at the choices these young adults make."

The director said he felt the series "could bring a new kind of meaning to the zombie genre."

"All of Us Are Dead" is based on popular webtoon "Now At Our School" written by Joo Dong Geun, who Jae Kyoo has met with to bring the story to life.

"We talked a lot about bringing the story to life and we wanted to tell the story of what kind of hope people should carry as we live our lives, what it means to be human, so while it's going to be a wildly entertaining show, we also want it to create a drama series that leaves you with food for thought as well," said the director.

In terms of visuals, the director said what made this series stand out were the "details of the movements of the zombies" which were "upgraded significantly."

"The process of becoming zombies, usually there is immense fear in that because you have this sense of fear and despair where you're not trying to hurt them but they try to kill you so I think that emotional aspect is what will set us apart."

"All of Us Are Dead" is set in a high school that becomes ground zero for a zombie virus outbreak. Trapped students must fight their way out or turn into one of the rabid infected, while the survivors seek a safe way out to get to their family and friends.

In the midst of a life or death struggle against the zombies, their characters being tested to hilt, the students start making real friendships, and understanding the true meaning of love.

Actors who will be starring in the show include Park Ji Hu, Yoon Chan Young, Cho Yi Hyun, Lomon, Yoo In Soo, Lee You Mi, and Lim Jae Hyeok.
