H.E.R. cast as Belle in 'Beauty and the Beast' special
H.E.R. is the newest Belle!
The Filipino-American and Grammy-winning singer has been cast in ABC's "Beauty and the Beast" special as the well-loved small-town princess.
"I can't believe I get to be a part of the Beauty and the Beast legacy," H.E.R. said in a statement published by People
. "The world will see a Black and Filipino Belle!""I have always wanted to be a Disney princess," she added.

The special will be directed by Hamish Hamilton and Jon M. Chu.
Chu said they were influenced by Disney's animated movie that was released in 1991.
"It's very exciting to collaborate together to honor the artistry of that timeless classic while also inspiring a whole new generation of creators," he said.
H.E.R. is also set to star in Warner Bros. adaptation of "The Color Purple," slated for 2023. —JCB, GMA News
