What lucky side hustles can we begin in 2023?

By KIMBERLY TSAO,GMA Integrated News

Is 2023 a good year to start a business?

Chinese metaphysics practitioner and entrepreneur Sofia Relosa says yes, particularly if it's a side hustle.

"I would advise na magnegosyo po tayo. As a matter of fact, kahit may trabaho tayo, magsimula po tayo ng sideline," she said in the Tuesday episode of "Unang Hirit."

"Kasi hindi po gaanong kaganda ang ating taon, to be honest, so pag marami tayong streams of income, malaki ang tulong sa atin 'yun."

When asked about food businesses, Relosa said starting a food-related side hustle would be great.

Because of high demand and low supply, Relosa sees an "uptrend [in] agrikultura."  The same is true with food. "Pagdating sa restaurant, magkakaroon 'to ng uptrend," she said.

"Pero kailangan po — tingnan po natin, mag-innovate po tayo para 'di tayo mahirapan sa kompetisyon," Relosa warned.

An online clothing business is another side hustle idea that she advocates, saying there will also be an uptrend in hybrid clothing businesses: face-to-face and online.

She recommends an online business, in particular and suggests doing live selling.

Meanwhile, Relosa says "Mataas ang wood [element] and wood refers to education, 'yung mga self skill set."

As such, she recommends "opening" up our skill sets to a wider network and connection, such as social media.

"Kung meron po tayong alam na mga specific skill set, maganda po i-open natin 'to sa paggamit ng social media para maturo natin ito," Relosa said.

The Chinese metaphysics practitioner particularly points to wellness and self-help skill sets, saying "mas mataas ang anxiety and depression this year."

"So mas magkakaroon ng [opening] to reiki, yoga, Chinese metaphysics, at the same time, self-help, life coaching maganda i-open sa lahat," she adds.

According to Relosa, a lot of us is still undergoing the adjustments and changes, given the opening up of the world after nearly three year in lockdown.

"Pwede ma-overwhelm ang mga tao kaya magkakaroon ng trend towards metaphysics, self-help, reiki, yoga, medition," she continued.

For her final business advice, Relosa said, "Mataas ang fire this year, meaning importante po ang atensyon at impluwensiya. This applies to anybody, kapag may negosyo tayo, kahit empleyado po tayo, maging bukas po tayo sa paggamit ng social media para mas maging open po tayo at ma-share po natin ang mga kaalaman natin sa mga tao kasi attention is the means para makukuha tayo ng opportunity at pera at suwerte."
