Destination: Iceland

What to expect: This Scandinavian country is a marvel of nature. ‘Game of Thrones’ may have made it more popular but it is more than just ice glaciers. There are black sand beaches, mountainous valleys, subterranean caves – how do you stand out in magnificent scenery like that?

What to wear: One word – layers. Start with a base of cotton/silk tank-top or wool-thermal tops. Add a long-sleeved shirt or fleece zip-up. What’s on top can be chunky warm knits or oversized parkas, faux fur preferably. Just take note that your clothes and shoes should be weatherproof from water and wind. Walking shoes or sleek boots are fine for schlepping. Lastly, pack swimsuits! Iceland has indoor heated pools and natural thermal springs ready for you to dip into.

Destination: Paris, France

What to expect: The center of fashion and culture is in Paris. Think about it: The Louvre, Versailles, city gardens, and cozy cafes. From museums, luxe fashion ateliers to the Eiffel Tower, you can stomp your own runway and have a culture trip with the city of lights and love as your Instagrammable backdrop.

What to wear: During spring and summer, you can dress warm with jeans, white stripe cotton tops, tailored blazers,  and sunglasses. But from fall to winter (October to March) layering is also a must, especially since you’re from the tropics who is not accustomed to that cold. (See Iceland fashion tips above.) The usual long coats and boots are in order but Paris is all about making fashion statements. So go ahead: mix patterns with prints, wear athleisure hoodies and leggings with stilettos, choose neon colors on your dress and for your hair – anything you decide will be tres jolie!

What to expect: For those who want to stay in warmer climes, flying to these coral atolls in the Indian Ocean is truly a luxurious delight. You have your pick of beaches and lagoons, private-island resorts with underwater restaurants and infinity pools. Honeymooners and beach lovers will adore this mini paradise.

What to wear: Please note that Maldives is still a Muslim country, so when you hit the city proper, dress conservatively. When you’re in the islands and beach resorts, you can wear sexy swimwear and spaghetti-strap dresses. You can also opt for a maxi dress for brunch, a jumpsuit for a dinner date, and sandals and flip-flops. Keep your beach #OOTD fresh with accessories like necklaces, earrings, sunglasses, and hats. Don’t forget your sunblock!
