Filipino fashion icon Ben Farrales dies at 88

Acclaimed Filipino fashion designer Ben Farrales has died at the age of 88.

The announcement was shared by his grandniece Jaimie Farrales on Saturday.

“Gone, but never forgotten. Rest in Peace Lolo Ben,” she wrote.

Farrales was called the “Dean of Philippine Fashion” for his influence in the industry and is widely known for his Muslim-inspired ternos.

During his 60-year career, he dressed several celebrities and personalities for various events and gatherings.

He was also awarded by the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) the “Gawad CCP Para sa Sining” for his contributions to design in 2015. — Franchesca Viernes/BM, GMA News
