Heart Evangelista struts around Paris in Filipiniana named after Miriam Defensor-Santiago

Heart Evangelista just highlighted Filipino culture during her stay in Paris in the most fashionable way.

The Kapuso actress and style icon walked Parisian streets in a modern Filipiniana, which designer Cheetah Rivera named "Santiago."

“My kind of Filipiniana,” Heart wrote on Instagram.

As its name suggests, the mini dress was actually inspired by late Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago.

It is defined by Cheetah as a "bespoked modern-day terno paired with a floral appliqué micro-mini dress adorned with embroidered ‘mariposa’ of varying shades and sizes by our local artisans.”

The designer added that the piece is both a tribute and a celebration of the strength of a Filipina.

It is a known fact that Heart and the late lawyer-politician had a very close relationship. Heart even considered Miriam as a second mother.

At some point in her acting career, it was Miriam who handled Heart’s contracts, and she was the one who introduced Heart to her now-husband, Senator Chiz Escudero.

Currently in Paris to attend fashion week, Heart has been sharing her many looks from the trip, featuring pieces by Filipino designer Neric Beltran, plus high fashion brands like Celine, Patou, Louboutin, Bulgari, and many more. —Nika Roque/JCB, GMA News
