Miss USA R'Bonney Gabriel shows off Filipino-made National Costume in the Miss Universe prelims

Miss USA R'Bonney Gabriel strutted the runway of the Miss Universe preliminaries with a "woman on the moon" number by Filipino fashion designer Patrick Isorena for the National Costume competition.

On Instagram, Thursday, the Filipino-American beauty queen shared the inspiration behind her extraterrestrial look.

According to R'Bonney, the purpose of her costume is to inspire her fellow women to "dream big, shoot for the moon and achieve something out of this world."

"On July 20, 1969[,] two US astronauts became the first humans to step foot on the moon[,] accomplishing one of the most remarkable achievements in human history," the USA bet wrote.

"Fast forward to today and women are involved more than ever in the Artemis program aiming to send the US back to the moon," she added.

R'Bonney then said that she is beaming with pride to be a Houston native.

"As a Houston native, where the NASA space center is located, I am proud to be from a city working to send the first female to the moon," she said.

Miss USA's national costume featured a silver long-sleeved one-piece with numerous stars on her back and a futuristic headpiece.

Meanwhile, Philippine bet Celeste Cortesi channeled an iconic Filipina superhero, Darna, for her national costume.

The 71st Miss Universe grand coronation night is on January 14 at the New Orleans Morial Convention Center in Louisiana.
