11 PHL hotels listed by Forbes as among the world's best

The prestigious Forbes Travel Guide this week released the 2018 Star Award Winners as well as their 60th annual list of the world’s best hotels, restaurants and spas.

Of the 11 Philippine properties cited, 3 were given 5-star ratings.

Marco Polo Ortigas Manila and Sky Tower at Solaire Resort & Casino were recognized as 5-star hotels for the second year in a row.

A five star rating means "outstanding, often iconic properties with virtually flawless service and amazing facilities."

Marco Polo Ortigas Manila was described as "a celebration of artistry thanks to the architectural design concept by Mohri Architect & Associates and the interior look by Canada's Glyph Design Studio."

"The evocative pieces of artwork by young Filipino artist Jinggoy Buensuceso are displayed throughout the 23 levels of the hotel, its way of embracing and showcasing local culture and artistry," the description continues.

Sky Tower at Solaire Resort & Casino was praised for exuding "luxury without compromising utility — from the main entrance adorned with a glamorous Swarovski chandelier to the exquisitely decorated suites."

The staff's courteous and exceptional service from the staff also received a nod, with additional compliments to their Rajo Laurel outfits.

Joining the small and prestigious cluster of 5-star hotels is the recently opened Nüwa Manila at City of Dreams.

The hotel impressed as it "is all about sophistication and luxury, down to the finest detail, from the gold-laden entrance to the custom wallpaper inside guest rooms."

Meanwhile, Fairmont Makati, Hyatt City of Dream Manila, Nobu Hotel Manila, The Peninsula Manila, Raffles Makati, and Sofitel Philippine Plaza were all given a 4-star rating, each earning praise for their chosen aesthetic and excellent service.

The 4-star rating is achieved by "exceptional properties, offering high levels of service and quality of facility to match."

Makati Shangri-La and Pan Pacific Manila also received a nod with a "recommended" rating. A recommended rating is given to properties with consistently good service and facilities.

The Forbes Travel Guide lists includes 1609, with only 323 properties receiving a 5-star rating. — LA, GMA News
