SUBIC BAY, Philippines - Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) opens Tuesday the bidding process for the operation of a newly completed container terminal at the freeport. SBMA said in a statement that it is seeking an international container shipping firm to manage operations of the $215-million 14-hectare New Container Terminal-2 (NCT-2) which was completed last April. A bidder must have a net worth of $50 million to be eligible, SBMA said. "The NCT-2, like the NCT-1 or the first phase of the terminal project, is considered a critical infrastructure for the Port of Subic," the statement quoted SBMA Administrator and Chief Executive Officer Armand C. Arreza as saying. The state agency will be accepting bids for this contract only up to January 22, the statement read further. — BusinessWorld
