After being hounded by recent price hikes, consumers can finally expect a hefty rollback for liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in the coming weeks.

LPG Marketers Association party list Rep. Arnel Ty said Tuesday the world prices of LPG had gone down by $130 per metric ton, which may mean P5 to P6 per kilo.

"Ang binagsak ng international market price ng LPG, $130 per metric ton as of (Monday). Tingin namin ito tutuloy-tuloy. Equivalent sa atin P6 per kilo. Mga P5 to 6 ‘yan i-expect ng ating mga consumer," he said in an interview on dzBB radio.

On Monday, LPGMA members cut prices of their products by P1 per kilo, or P11 per 11-kg tank.

However, Ty did not immediately make clear if the next price drop would come before the end of this month. In earlier interviews, he said LPGMA members adjust prices every month.

Ty said the price drop is due to the lower demand for the commodity.

"Ang presyo sa international market nag-uumpisang bumaba. Ito magtutuloy-tuloy na at maliban doon medyo may kalakihan ang expect naming ibababa ng presyo sa international market," he said. –KG, GMA News
