DOTC gets $1-M grant from SoKor aid agency


The Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) received a $1-million grant pledged by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) for the national integrated vehicle inspection and management system.   In a statement the South Korean aid agency released Monday, KOICA resident representative Kim Jinoh said the project entails the creation of a master plan for a Philippine motor vehicle inspection and management system to guide government planners in charting a course of action for implementing a sustainable national inspection system.   “We hope that upon completion of our project, the Philippine government would be able to establish modern integrated vehicle inspection and management centers that would help ensure road safety and address vehicular emission and pollution problems,” Jinoh said.   KOICA and DOTC signed the grant agreement on Friday.   Under the 15-month project, the DOTC is expected to craft feasibility studies, stage capacity building programs for vehicle inspector, dispatch technical experts, and train Transportation officials and personnel in South Korea.   The 15-month project would involve the development of feasibility studies, conduct of capacity building program for vehicle inspectors, dispatch of technical experts, and training of local officials and personnel in South Korea. — VS, GMA News
