PNR launches Malabon-Taguig line

The Philippine National Railways (PNR) on Monday launched its Malabon City-Taguig City train line.

The service will run from the Gov. Pascual platform in Malabon to the FTI station in Taguig.

The fare for airconditioned coaches is P25 while passengers who will take non-airconditioned trains will pay P20.

Travel time for the MAlabon-Taguig route is 58 minutes, according to DOTr.

There will be eight trips daily form Gov. Pascual-FTI route, and vice versa.

Four trips, on the other hand, will be available daily for the Tutuban-Gov. Pascual route.

PNR General Manager Junn Magno said this will facilitate easier commuting for Caloocan-Malabon-Navotas-Valenzuela (CAMANAVA) residents who usually brave the EDSA traffic.

The newly launched route is in its dry run phase with more improvements in the pipeline, Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade said.

“Sabi ho ni Junn Magno, ‘Hihilamusin natin ito sa Enero. Promise ko, sir, pagdating ng mga bagong bagon natin, ‘yang gusgusing bagon na ‘yan, magiging bago ho sa Hunyo’,” Tugade said.

The rail extension was done as part of DOTr’s Metro North Commuter service.

In September, the PNR also resumed its Sangandaan, Caloocan-FTI Taguig route after 20 years. —Dona Magsino/VDS, GMA News
