Smart, Google team up to provide free Wi-Fi across PHL


Smart Communications Inc. has teamed up with global internet giant Google to roll out more Wi-Fi hubs in the country and provide free connections nationwide.

Smart said it will provide more Filipinos access to free internet services through the partnership with Google, according to a statement released by Smart’s parent PLDT Inc.

“Powered by Smart Wi-Fi’s nationwide infrastructure, more citizens will now be enabled to enjoy a digital lifestyle with the growing number of Smart Wi-Fi hubs throughout the country,” it said.

Under the free Smart Wi-Fi service, customers may be able to avail of free internet surfing for an initial time period, which may then be extended for a price.

The partnership with Smart Wi-Fi gives more Filipinos access to new opportunities and learning tools through the internet, “empowering them in a meaningful way,” said Google Philippines country manager Kenneth Lingan.
