HOLIDAY SEASON

Malls to open at 11 a.m. starting November 11 —MMDA

In an effort to curb the country’s traffic woes, shopping mall operators have agreed to open and close shop at a later time during the holiday season, following a request from the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA).

According to GMA News' Mav Gonzales, malls in Metro Manila will open at 11 a.m. from Monday to Friday starting November 11 until January 10, 2020.

Mall operators still have the option to open earlier on the weekends.

The MMDA also said mall sales will be prohibited from Mondays to Fridays in the same period.

However, a shopping mall has been exempted from the sale ban because it has already announced a sale on November 15.

According to a Tuesday report on Balitanghali, the MMDA has also proposed that the delivery window for malls be transferred to between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.

The MMDA also suggested mall operators add more security personnel to direct the flow of traffic. —Julia Mari Ornedo/MDM, GMA News
