PLDT-Smart provides free calls, internet, charging to Taal eruption victims


PLDT Inc. and its mobile subsidiary, Smart Communications Inc., on Tuesday said it is providing free calls and charging stations in areas affected by the eruption of the Taal Volcano.

In an emailed statement, Smart said it has set up free calls and charging stations and tents in several areas in Batangas and Cavite.

"The communication services of PLDT and Smart are operating normally in affected areas, except for those that are experiencing commercial power outages," the company said.

According to the company, free calls and charging stations are available at the following locations:

BATANGAS:
Batangas City

    Batangas Sports Complex (with Wi-Fi)


Bauan (free calls only)

    Bauan Technical High School, Poblacion
    Bauan Central School
    Manghinao 1 Covered Court
    Manghinao Proper Brgy. Hall
    Balayong Elem School
    As-is Brgy. Hall

Lipa City

    St. Vincent Ferrer, Banaybanay (free calls/Wi-Fi)


San Pascual (free calls)

    Poblacion 1 Brgy Hall

The company on Monday said it has provided communications support to facilitate evacuation efforts.
