Globe says services restored in Cavite, Laguna

Services of Globe Telecom Inc. in Cavite and Laguna have been fully restored as of Thursday, January 16, as the power generators servicing the company's sites have been refueled.

"Globe Telecom has fully restored its services in Cavite and Laguna.  This is the result of partial commercial power resumption and permissions given to replenish generator fuel in areas severely affected by ashfall from Taal Volcano's explosion Sunday evening," the company said in an advisory.

According to Globe, services were affected by the prolonged commercial power outages, which forced the company to operate sites in affected areas using generator sites.

"However, zero visibility within the 15-kilometer danger zone from the main Taal crater prevented immediate equipment refueling," it said.

"Nevertheless, Globe technical teams remain vigilant in monitoring the network in view of the volcano’s volatile condition," added Globe.

The Ayala-led company has already provided free internet connection spots, call stations, and charging areas in locations affected by the eruption of Taal Volcano.

For its part, Pangilinan-led PLDT Inc. and its mobile subsidiary Smart Communications Inc. said its communications services have been operating normally. — RSJ, GMA News
