Cathay Pacific banking on migrant workers for MNL, Cebu-HK flights

Cathay Pacific is banking on the "large number" of migrant Filipino workers in Hong Kong to avail of their daily flights from Manila and Cebu.

In a statement, Cathay Pacific said it continues to operate flights from Manila to Hong Kong twice a day, departing at 12:25 p.m. and 7:45 p.m.

It also operates flights from Cebu every Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday at 12:20 p.m.

"With exemptions for selected travelers now in place, we would like to reach out to customers looking at options for their return flight to Hong Kong as we are aware that there is a large number of Filipinos who call Hong Kong their home," the carrier said.

The Philippine government last month lifted the ban on travel to Hong Kong and Macau for Filipino migrant workers, amid the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

"Persons who wish to travel must sign a declaration signifying their knowledge and understanding of the risks involved," said Cathay Pacific.

Locally, the Department of Health (DOH) on Saturday confirmed new cases of the COVID-19 in the country, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to six. — LA, GMA News
