Google donates $5M in ad credits to Philippine govt’s COVID-19 information efforts


Search engine Google is donating $5 million worth of advertisement credits to the Philippine government to aid concerned agencies disseminate critical information related to the COVID-19 response and relief efforts.

“Ang Google po ay nagbigay ng up to $5 million in search ad credits,” Google Philippines chief of Government Affairs and Public Policy Yves Gonzalez said during the Laging Handa public briefing on Tuesday.

“Magagamit po ‘yan ng Philippine government agencies para mailabas ang critical na impormasyon tungkol sa COVID-19 pati na rin sa economic recovery measures,” Gonzales said.

The Google Philippines official said that campaigns for the Department of Health and Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) are already running in the search engine.

“In the coming weeks magsisimula na ang mga campaign ng DOLE (Department of Labor and Employment), DTI (Department of Trade and Industry), DICT (Department of Information and Communications Technology), pati na rin ang NEDA (National Economic and Development Authority),” Gonzales said.

“Sa ganitong paraan matutulungan ang gobyerno para mailabas ang importanteng mensahe sa mga nagse-search sa Google,” he said.

As of Monday, a total of 3,660 cases of COVID-19 have been reported in the Philippines, with 163 deaths and 73 recoveries.—AOL, GMA News
