Grab says prices the same amid GCQ, surge capped at 1.5x

Grab Philippines on Tuesday said there have been no changes in its prices, and surges have been capped at 1.5x as its operations resumed under the general community quarantine (GCQ).

According to Grab Philippines country manager Brian Cu, there have been no changes in its rates since operations restarted on Monday, June 1, under the GCQ.

"What we've done is we've intentionally depressed surge whereas before the surge cap was 2x the fare, we (have decreased this) to 1.5x," he said in an interview on ANC.

"We did not change the rates, we're still adhering to the LTFRB fare matrix and we've in fact lowered surge from 2x to 1.5x," said Cu.

Grab earlier announced new policies to be implemented, in line with health measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

Since operations resumed, Cu said there has been a significant decrease in the number of bookings, registering 10% of the average prior to the lockdowns.

"Passengers will have to face a bit of difficulty in the coming days for transport but I do think that by Thursday or Friday, things should normalize and booking should be able to come back to normal," he said.—AOL, GMA News
