DTI pushes for staggered shifts at workplaces to manage public transport load

By JOVILAND RITA,GMA News

The Department of Trade and Industry will issue on Monday or Tuesday a circular encouraging companies to implement staggered shifts in workplaces to manage demand in public transport.

In a public briefing on Monday, DTI Secretary Ramon Lopez noted that around 95% of sectors have already been allowed to resume business.

“Naalala ko lang ‘yung ipapalabas natin na circular ay ‘yung pag-encouarge din sa mga kumpanya to apply ‘yung staggered shifts,” Lopez said.

“Ibig sabihin ‘yung iba ibang oras ng service hours para ho ma-spread natin ‘yung dami ng bumibiyahe, ang nangangailangan ng transportation, at bumibiyahe papunta sa places of work,” he added.

Giving examples, Lopez said that some employees could start their duty at 7 a.m. while others at 8 a.m., 9 a.m., then 10 a.m. so on and so forth.

Lopez also noted that the DTI continues to encourage work-from-home arrangements. — BM, GMA News
