Grab to fully roll out cash-in with driver feature in November

By TED CORDERO,GMA News

Grab Philippines on Wednesday announced it will be launching a new feature which will allow passengers to cash-in or load up their GrabPay accounts through its partner-drivers.

In a virtual press briefing, Grab Philippines head of Transport and Shared Services Ronald Roda said the “Cash-in with Driver” feature allows cash-paying commuters to enjoy safe and reliable GrabCar services by activating their GrabPay wallet during the ride, paying cash to their drivers at the end of the trip, and receive their change credited in their GrabPay wallets.

Through said feature, he said Grab is able to help ease and accelerate cashless payment adoption in the Philippines by having driver-partners guide cash-paying commuters on their GrabPay wallet activation.

With public transportation adopting cashless payments, many Filipinos require help to fully embrace this new way of paying cashless for their everyday commute and Grab is introducing a solution to address just that, he said.

The feature will be fully rolled-out by November through an updated version of the Grab app.

“With many of our kababayans required to physically be present in their workspaces and offices, transportation remains key in effectively driving safe and sustainable economic recovery for our communities and our country,” Roda said.

“Through this innovation, we hope to help ease the cashless barrier for our commuters by enjoining our driver-partners to not only provide a safe and reliable means of transportation, but to also help more Filipino commuters embrace cashless payment, and unlock the many benefits that await them with GrabPay”, he said.

The “Cash-in with Driver” feature will be available on GrabCar 2-seater and 4-seater in Metro Manila, GrabBayanihan Car, GrabCar 2-Seater in Cebu and Pampanga, and soon on GrabTaxi. —LBG, GMA News
