Maynilad announces water service interruptions from Nov. 18 to 24, 2020

Customers of Maynilad Water Services Inc. were advised to store water when available as the company implements rotational water service interruptions from Nov. 18 to 24, 2020.

Maynilad said it has to clean up its treatment plants due to sludge after Typhoon Ulysses' passage on Thursday last week.

"Dahil sa volume ng sludge na pumapasok sa aming treatment plants simula noong Huwebes hanggang sa kasalukuyan bunsod ng Bagyong Ulysses, kinakailangan naming linisin ang aming mga basin upang bumalik sa normal ang volume ng tubig na aming pinu-produce," the company said in a statement posted on Facebook.

Maynilad issued schedules of water service interruptions from Nov. 18 to 24 in Caloocan City, Malabon City, Makati City, Manila, Muntinlupa City, Navotas City, Parañaque City, Pasay City, Quezon City, and Imus, Bacoor and Kawit in Cavite.

"Kapag bumalik na ang supply ng tubig sa inyong lugar, maaaring malabo o may kulay ang unang-labas na tubig. Padaluyin muna ito nang panandalian hanggang sa luminaw ang tubig," it said.

The company appealed to its customers for understanding for the water service interruptions.

"Patuloy kaming humihingi ng inyong pang-unawa. Makaaasa kayo sa aming pagsisikap na maisaayos agad ang naging epekto ng Bagyong Ulysses sa aming operasyon. Maraming salamat po," it said.

Some one million customers of Maynilad Water Services Inc. will be affected by the water service interruptions the company has started implementing in 13 areas, according to a report of Mai Bermudez on GMA News' Unang Balita on Wednesday. 

Around 70% of Maynilad customers will be affected.

Maynilad will schedule a ‘water supply window’ to give customers enough time to store water that they will use for the day, its Water Supply Operations head Ronald Padua said.

On Saturday, Maynilad said majority of its customers have normal water supply, after the turbidity in the water from Ipo Dam decreased to "manageable" levels.

Maynilad expected then that the water supply would be fully restored by Sunday, November 15. —Joviland Rita/KG, GMA News
