Andrew Tan-led brandy marker Emperador Inc. saw its earnings last year grow by 18% on the back of strong international operations.

In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange, Emperador said its net income attributable shareholders stood at P8 billion, up 18% year-on-year.

The bottomline growth is attributed to the sustained growth in revenues amounting to P52.6 billion, slightly higher than the P51.6-billion revenues posted in 2019.

“Emperador's global footprint and iconic brand portfolio enabled the company to navigate through the challenges of 2020,” the brandy maker said.

“While certain aspects of the business have been affected by the impact of COVID-19, particularly on-trade and global travel retail resulting from lockdowns and dry law implementation, these have been offset by increased sales in off-trade and e-commerce," it added.

"While not totally impervious to the adverse effects of the conditions, Emperador’s global business adapted well to new consumption trends."
