Cebu Pacific to continue domestic, international flights amid 'NCR Plus' ECQ

By JON VIKTOR D. CABUENAS,GMA News

Cebu Pacific will continue to operate all flights this week amid the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in place in "NCR Plus", but only essential travelers will be allowed to travel.

In an advisory, Cebu Pacific said that as of 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 27, 2021, the carrier will maintain its domestic and international flights, but passengers may wish to postpone their travel.

Passengers have the option to rebook for free within 90 days, store the amount in a virtual Cebu Pacific wallet, or opt to refund which may take up to seven months to process.

"This is a developing situation. We may adjust flights on government regulations. We will provide updates as soon as more information becomes available," the carrier said.

Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna and Rizal — collectively tagged as "NCR Plus" — will be under ECQ starting midnight March 29 until Sunday, April 4

Prior to the announcement of the ECQ, the government banned the non-essential entry and exit into the NCR Plus bubble during the same period.

The National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) earlier said another two-week modified enhanced community quarantine — one notch lower than the ECQ — would bring about P2.1 billion daily losses.

The Philippines on Saturday, March 27, reported 9,595 new confirmed cases of COVID-19. This includes a record-high 118,122 active cases; 581,161 recoveries; and 13,159 deaths. —KG, GMA News
