The Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) has ordered water concessionaires to extend the suspension of service disconnection activities at least until the end of the modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ).

In a statement, the MWSS said both Manila Water Company Inc. and Maynilad Water Services Inc. were directed to suspend all service disconnection activities, whether temporary or permanent, until the MECQ is lifted.

"This is to ensure that all customers receive clean and adequate water supply for their health and sanitation requirements, especially during this difficult time of pandemic," it said.

NCR Plus—Metro Manila Cavite, Laguna, Rizal, and Bulacan—was placed under the modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) from Monday, April 12 until April 30.

This is one notch looser than the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) which was imposed in the bubble starting March 29. It was set to last only until April 4, but was extended for another week until April 11.
