Globe: Ookla speed test showed it’s PHL’s ‘most consistent’ network in Q1

Ayala-led Globe Telecom said Wednesday it stands as the leader in mobile network consistency in the Philippines as of the first quarter of 2021.

Citing the first quarter speed-test results of analytics firm Ookla, Globe said it received a nationwide consistency score of 70.43, “ahead of competition.”

Mobile consistency score is determined by the number of tests taken that are above a certain speed threshold.

On a regional perspective, Globe said that Ookla data also showed highest mobile consistency scores in the following regions: Calabarzon, Central Luzon, Northern Mindanao, Ilocos Region, Eastern Visayas, Bicol, MIMAROPA, Cagayan Valley, Zamboanga Peninsula, and Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).

In the same quarter, the telco said Ookla confirmed Globe as the leader in 10 out of 17 regions in terms of mobile median download speed.

These regions are Bicol, Cagayan Valley, Caraga, CAR, Eastern Visayas, Ilocos Region, Northern Mindanao, Region XII, and Zamboanga Peninsula.

Globe noted that being able to top in 10 regions is a clear indication that the telco’s efforts on network site improvements and service upgrades are already being felt by its customers.

“We are happy that our relentless efforts to improve our network are now being experienced by our customers.  We expect our site builds and upgrades to continue despite the pandemic to provide more access and higher data capacity for our customers,” said Ernest Cu, Globe president and chief executive officer. -MDM, GMA News
