Over 500 7-Eleven stores in NCR, Cavite now have ATMs installed

Philippine Seven Corp. (PSC), the exclusive licensor of 7-Eleven brand in the Philippines, said Tuesday that over 500 of its stores in Metro Manila and Cavite have been installed with automated teller machines (ATMs).

In a statement, PSC said the convenience was made possible through its partnership with Pito AxM Platform Inc. (PAPI), a subsidiary of Seven Bank Ltd. of Japan.

Seven Bank, which operates more than 25,000 ATMs in Japan, established PAPI in April 2019 to promote its ATM business in the country.

In February 2020, PAPI entered a business alliance with PSC, intending to install, operate, and maintain ATMs at 7-Eleven stores in the Philippines.

“With the threat of COVID-19 still present, and the continuing implementation of community quarantines, the need for easy access to financial services is paramount. Now, more Filipinos can withdraw cash at ATM machines in over 500 7-Eleven stores,” said Jose Victor Paterno, president and CEO of PSC.

“We want to offer our customers the most convenient service, which is why we also want them to save on transaction fees they would have otherwise spent when withdrawing at another ATM,” Paterno added.

Apart from allowing customers to withdraw cash from any of its partner banks, the ATMs at 7-Eleven stores have a unique feature of adapting the ATM interface depending on the customer’s bank, making it easy for customers to use.

The installation of ATMs in 7-Eleven stores began on February 22 this year.

By June, 300 7-Eleven stores had the ATMs installed.

PSC plans to expand coverage to 1,000 stores by the end of 2021, with the end goal of covering all existing 7-Eleven stores in the future.
