Meralco: Disconnection activities in NCR to continue amid Alert Level 4 extension

By TED CORDERO, GMA News

Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) on Friday said service disconnection activities in the National Capital Region (NCR) will continue as the government extended the less stringent Alert Level 4 status until the middle of October.

“In light of the government’s announcement on Thursday evening extending the implementation of GCQ (general community quarantine) with Alert Level 4 in NCR from October 1 to 15, disconnection activities will continue in the said region…,” Meralco said.

Areas placed under granular lockdown by local government units are exempted from the continuing disconnection activities, it said.

Meanwhile, the provinces of Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, Rizal, and Lucena City in Quezon which continue to be under modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) from October 1 to 15, disconnection activities remain to be suspended, the power distribution company said.

“For the remaining areas of our franchise area, specifically Batangas and Quezon which continue to be placed under GCQ with heightened restrictions, please be advised that disconnection activities in these provinces will continue as well,” Meralco said.

The company urged customers to reach out, “so they can discuss and help clarify their concerns, and even come up with payment terms, if really needed.”

“Meralco remains to be very considerate during this period and vowed to assist customers with their concerns,” it added.

Customers can reach out to Meralco through its website and media accounts.

“Meralco will continue vital operations such as meter reading, bill delivery, and service crews will continue to work around the clock to serve its customers,” it said.—AOL, GMA News
