Jollibee, Ayala, Aboitiz listed in Forbes' 2021 'World's Best Employers' list

Three Philippines companies were included in the 750 best firms to work for, based on Forbes’ 2021 World’s Best Employers list.

Among the Philippine firms listed, Jollibee Foods Corp. had the highest ranking at the 256th spot.

The food giant operates the brands Jollibee, Chowking, Greenwich, Red Ribbon, Yong He King, Hong Zhuang Yuan, Mang Inasal, Burger King, Highlands Coffee, PHO24, Hard Rock Cafe, Dunkin’ Donuts, Smashburger, Tim Ho Wan, Tortas Frontera, The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, and Panda Express.

Jollibee ended 2020 with a total of 1,184 Jollibee stores across the Philippines. It also has 294 international stores, including 46 in the United States, 14 in Canada, one in Guam, two in Italy, three in the United Kingdom, 141 in Vietnam, 18 in Brunei, 10 in Hong Kong, 11 in Singapore, one in Macau, one in Malaysia, and 46 in the Middle East.

Also included in the list is Ayala Corp. which came in at 487th spot. It is the holding firm of the Ayala Group of Companies, with principal business interests in real estate, financial services, telecommunications, water, industrial technologies, power, infrastructure, healthcare, and technology ventures.

Its subsidiaries include Ayala Land Inc., Manila Water Company Inc., Integrated Micro-Electronics Inc., and AC Energy and Infrastructure Corp.

Aboitiz Equity Ventures also made it to the list, ranking 665th. The firm’s core businesses include power generation, distribution and retail electricity supply, financial services, food manufacturing, real estate, and infrastructure.

It also has investments in aviation through AEV Aviation Inc., insurance through Archipelago Insurance Pte. Ltd., and portfolio investments through AEV International Pte. Ltd.

The list takes into account responses from 150,000 full-time and part-time workers surveyed by Statista from 58 countries, working from multinational companies and institutions.

The respondents rated their willingness to recommend their own employers to friends and family, and rate the companies on aspects including image, economic footprint, talent development, gender equality, and social responsibility.

Shares in JFC closed Thursday up P13.80 or 6.39% to P229.80, AC up P25.00 or 3.02% to P853.00, and AEV up P0.35 or 0.74% to P47.35. —KBK, GMA News
