PLDT, Smart say services restored in Surigao City

Pangilinan-led PLDT Inc. and its wireless unit Smart Communications Inc. on Tuesday said they have restored services in Surigao City proper following the onslaught of Typhoon Odette last week. 

In an advisory, PLDT said the group has also brought other areas in Surigao del Norte back online, with wireless services now available in the Tubod and Bad-as areas, along with Barangay Taganito.

“PLDT and Smart personnel have been working around the clock to repair downed sites in Surigao del Norte and quickly restore affected communication services,” the advisory read.

“We are likewise tapping all available assets to reconnect Siargao and Palawan soonest,” it added.

Typhoon Odette left the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Saturday after devastating many communities in the central and southern parts of the country. — VBL, GMA News
