Petron Corp. says operations restored in nearly all stations in Odette-hit areas

Petron Corp. has restored full operations in nearly all of its service stations damaged by Typhoon Odette (international name: Rai), the company announced Thursday.

In an advisory, Petron Corp. president and chief executive officer Ramon Ang said nearly 100% of all damaged stations throughout the affected regions are now operational.

“The recovery of the Visayas and Mindanao regions from Typhoon Odette is just beginning. There are still so many damaged structures and properties, business operations have yet to normalize, and a lot of our kababayans are still facing uncertainty in their daily lives,” he said.

“We’re committed to doing all we can to help in their recovery, both through providing relief, and getting all our operations back on track,” he added.

Petron Corp. earlier assured stable supplies in the Visayas and Mindanao region, where a number of its stations were forced to close for damage assessment and repairs.

Petron said it is prioritizing and supporting the critical fuel needs of essential facilities such as government agencies, hospitals, power plants, airports, and water facilities.

The company is the fuel unit of diversified conglomerate San Miguel Corp., which has sent over P35M worth of food and water donations to Odette-hit communities to date.

The Visayas and Mindanao regions have been severely hit by Odette which entered the country in December. It left the Philippine Area of Responsibility  after causing “total devastation” in areas under its path.

Shares in Petron Corp. were up by 2 centavos or 0.60% to P3.36 apiece, and those in San Miguel Corp. up 10 centavos or 0.09% to P111.10 as of Thursday afternoon. — Jon Viktor D. Cabuenas/RSJ, GMA News
