The Social Security System (SSS) has extended the deadline for the submission of Annual Confirmation of Pensioners’ Program (ACOP) from March 31 to June 30, 2022, its spokesperson said Friday.

Interviewed on Dobol B TV, SSS spokesperson and Vice President for Public Affairs and Special Events Division Fernan Nicolas said SSS President Michael Regino ordered the extension.

“Pinag-utos po ng ating presidente ng SSS na si Michael Regino na i-extend po natin yung deadline doon sa ACOP [SSS President Michael Regino ordered to extend the deadline for ACOP],” he said.

The SSS requires pensioners to submit ACOP for updates on their personal information and condition. Pensioners have to fill out a form and send it with a photo of them holding a newspaper with the current date.

They can send their ACOP to SSS branches or through email, according to Nicolas.

In a statement on Thursday, the SSS said the extension applies to the ACOP for the calendar year 2021.

Regino said the extension aims to give concerned pensioners more time to comply with the requirement to avoid the suspension of their monthly pensions.

“Originally, we have given covered pensioners a period of six months from October 1 last year to comply with the ACOP for the calendar year 2021,” he said.

“But in view of the restrictions that were implemented at some point earlier this year due to the Omicron variant along with other considerations, we decided to extend the deadline for another three months or until June 30,” he added.

The ACOP covers the following pensioner types:

  • survivor pensioners (receiving pensions through Death Benefit)
  • total disability pensioners
  • guardians and their dependents
  • retirement pensioners residing abroad

Retirement pensioners residing in the Philippines, meanwhile, remain exempted from complying with the ACOP, the SSS said.

Regino urged those who have yet to comply to submit their ACOP before the deadline ends.

“We urge those who have not yet complied with the program to submit their compliance immediately for them to not miss the new deadline. We have various methods for compliance that we developed with the utmost consideration for their safety and convenience,” he said. —KBK, GMA News
