NTC to telcos: Ensure uninterrupted internet services during Holy Week break

The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) has ordered telecommunications companies to ensure uninterrupted internet and connectivity services during the long Holy Week break.

In its Memorandum Order No. 003-04-2023, the NTC said that “having a fast and reliable internet broadband connectivity is vital to religious and Holy Week travelers.”

With this, the agency directed public telecommunications entities to do the following:

  •     Ensure that telecommunications services with increased and sufficient network capacity are available 24/7 in areas where people converge such as religious places,
  •     Assign sufficient number of technical personnel to attend to any disruption of service,

  •     Ensure that any disruption of service shall not exceed accumulated one hour from April 6 to April 10,
  •     Ensure that repair works are done and services restored immediately by strategically locating spare parts, replacement equipment, devices, and materials,
  •     Ensure that complaints are attended properly and addressed swiftly by sufficiently manning their hotlines which receive complaints,
  •     Implement such other measures necessary to make the stay of religious travelers enjoyable and memorable.

The NTC said reliable and quality broadband connection with sufficient capacity shall be made available by PTEs “to help ensure that user experience is maximized in places where the populace historically converge during the Holy Week break.”—AOL, GMA Integrated News
