Vitarich posts record net income on higher chicken prices, new revenue stream

Listed poultry integrator and animal feed manufacturer Vitarich Corp. on Wednesday opened 2025 with a record net income that is 389 times over the previous year, as its top line grew on the back of higher nationwide pricing of chicken products, and a new revenue stream.

In a regulatory filing, Vitarich reported a net income of P241.615 million, up from P620,959 the same period last year. Revenues increased to P3.195 billion from P2.937 billion, while gross profit climbed to P607.531 million from P245.985 million.

“(Revenues grew) driven by higher nationwide pricing of chicken products and the addition of a new revenue stream from day-old pullets,” the filing read.

Data from the Department of Agriculture (DA) show that prices of full-dressed chicken in Metro Manila ranged from P206.97 per kilogram from March 24 to March 29, 2025 the last week of the first quarter.

This compares with the P180.70 per kilogram of fully-dressed whole chicken from March 25 to 27, 2024.

Operating profit surged to P349.8 million or 14.5 times the P24.1 million the previous year, while operating expenses rose to an equivalent of 8.1% of revenues to reflect higher freight and handling costs, merchandiser salaries, and training and marketing expenses.

“This performance boosts our outlook and reinforces our confidence in navigating an evolving macroeconomic environment,” Vitarich chief executive officer Rocco Sarmiento said.

“As we move through the year, short-term disruptions such as the shortage of day-old chicks may continue but we remain focused on pursuing a range of opportunities that we believe will further strengthen our business and fuel sustained growth in the years ahead,” he added.

Vitarich’s food products are composed of chicken and dory fish, which are sold to hotels, restaurants, institutional clients, and supermarkets as well as wet markets.

Shares in the company were last trading at P0.60 apiece, up by 1 centavo or 1.69% from Tuesday's finish of P0.59 per share. —AOL, GMA Integrated News
