BCDA, Singapore in talks on Clark Green City dev't

The Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) is in talks with the Singaporean government and companies on possible partnerships in developing Clark Green City in Pampanga.

Talks were held with Temasek Holdings and other Singaporean companies on possible opportunities in Clark Green City, BCDA President Arnel Casanova told reporters in Taguig City on Thursday.

"They are probably exploring it and looking at possible partnerships with Filipino companies," he said on the sidelines of the closing ceremony of the Executive Training Program on Urban Policy, Governance, and Green City Development.

"Singapore itself, not only Temasek Holdings, are looking at the Philippines as a good investment destination," Casanova noted.

Singaporean companies are interested in investing in Clark Green City, because "the magnitude and scale of this project is suited to their strategic expansion.

"They are looking at urban development projects, which they are also doing in other parts of the world like they have investments in China, India. So they are looking at the Philippines, considering the country as one of the biggest economies in ASEAN," Casanova said.

The discussions revolve on possible opportunities in industrial estate and urban development projects.

"We are just on the exploratory stage of the discussion. Investment like this would come into billions of dollars so they will consider and study that very well," Casanova said. — VDS, GMA News
