NLEx Corp. provides P2.95M free tolls to 3,610 health workers

Metro Pacific Tollways-led NLEx Corp. on Friday said it has so far provided P2.95 million worth of free tolls to 3,610 doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals battling the coronavirus pandemic. 

“The amount has been waived in appreciation of the unwavering service of medical frontliners during these challenging times,” NLEx Corp. said in a statement.

As part of its program to support the mobility needs of healthcare workers in the COVID-19 efforts, the company offered toll exemption on the North Luzon Expressway and Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway through Easytrip RFID stickers for the entire duration of the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine.

“We are delighted to help thousands of our heroes who put their lives on the line. During this extended ECQ, we remain committed to prioritize the unhampered movement of essential workers and basic commodities,” NLEX Corp. president and general manager Luigi Bautista said.

The tollway company also reported it has granted special and exclusive access along the NLEx to over 300 vehicles of the IATF quarantine teams, Department of Health (DOH) workers, medical support groups, and patients bound for the “We Heal As One Center” quarantine facility at the Philippine Arena Complex.

NLEX Corp. also ensured safe and hassle-free motorist access between the NLEX and the quarantine facility by assisting in the traffic management and 24/7 monitoring via its CCTV system and having roving patrol crews as well as emergency response and engineering teams on standby.

“These efforts are part of our company’s latest string of initiatives to support the government in its fight against COVID-19. Aside from keeping the supply chain moving, we also continue bringing our corporate social responsibility to the forefront of our operations,” Bautista said.

MPTC and NLEx Corp. recently donated food packs to ECQ-affected barangays covered by their network of expressways.

The companies also provided free shuttle services for healthcare professionals working in hospitals under the MVP Group of Companies, provided 350 hospital beds for the “We Heal As One” quarantine facilities at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC), and donated personal protective equipment (PPEs) to public hospitals. -MDM, GMA News
